CMAC 2016 Legislative Breakfast

Carolyn Cook, co-founder of the Charlotte Village Network, was part of a 3-person panel for the CMAC (Charlotte Mecklenburg Aging Coalition) 2016 Legislative Breakfast on 5/9/16 at the Tyvola Senior Center. The topic was senior housing in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Carolyn's presentation introduced the audience to the nationwide Village Movement as an alternative for successful aging-in-place in the home and the community. Carolyn represented both the Charlotte Village Network and the Davidson Village Network.

Other panelists were Pamela Wideman, Deputy Director for the Neighborhood & Business Services Department; and Michael Olender, Associate State Director at AARP for North Carolina.

Elected officials present were LaWana Mayfield, Charlotte City Council member representing district 3; Carla Cunningham, NC State House Representative, District 106; Nancy Carter, Supervisor for Mecklenburg County Soil and Water Conservation District (former City Council member).

At the end of the presentations, questions and concerns were taken from the audience, answered by both the panel and attendees.
