Visitability encourages home builders to construct homes that enable people with physical challenges to come and visit. Visitability draws upon Universal Design and encourages aging in place and strong communities where everyone is welcomed.

The movement asks for three things:
One zero-step entrance on an accessible route from a driveway or public sidewalk (like this one)
Doorways with a minimum clear passage space of 32"
A half bathroom on the main floor to accommodate a wheelchair
All kinds of structures can be made visitable:
Single family homes
Townhomes
Condominiums
Patio homes
I wrote an article on this, complete with photos that can be downloaded here.
